What do Celebrity Divorces Tell Us About the Divorce Process?

2021 has been a year in which divorce has been in the spotlight, with Adele’s new album ‘30’ telling the tale the singer’s experience with divorce, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s public split, and high profile businessmen such Microsoft’s Bill Gates going through divorce and Tesla’s Elon Musk’s public separation.

With lockdowns and further restrictions in place, many have faced relationship breakdown throughout the last year, with the social isolation of the pandemic worsening an already stressful and emotionally painful process.

What can we take away from the series of high profile divorces? First of all, that divorce and relationship breakdown can happen to anyone. With divorce rates generally on the rise, we will see this rise across demographics, regardless of age, race, class, and even celebrity. Unfortunately, none of us are immune.

Secondly, knowing the pandemic has been an incredibly difficult time for us all, and with stress levels rising and couples and families stuck inside their homes together, it is now more important than ever that individuals are able to access the help, advice and support they need when faced with such difficulties. It is important to promote non-confrontational ways of addressing matters and building a network of professionals that can fully support those needing help in what are often complex and highly challenging times.

This process can be confusing and more than a little daunting, and no one should go through it alone. Agasee Law Associates offer a confidential initial consultation to provide advice and to help those affected find the best way forward.
